OK, so as tempting as the beach is, I've decided I might regret not taking my chances at the ashram. So, I'll head out today for Trivandrum. A trip that will include two bus rides probably totalling somewhere around 27 hours. That doesn't sound like too much fun, but hey, how often will I be able to bus across India?? hey...goa!!! did you see the church with the body of St Xavier? He was the founder of the jesuits in india or something like that. and when you get to Trivandrum, make sure you go to cochin too and take a boat ride in the back waters!! it's the most fascinating thing i remember. And in cochin, you should go see the oldest jewish synagogue in asia. there is soooo much history where you are now....the arabs and the indians used to trade for so many years using dhows and junks and catamarans. then the europeans wanted part of the trade and came over and then took over india and converted my family to catholicism....sighhhh...wish i was there!!! get an oil massage in trivandrum..around kovalam beach.......Ian
